Green Fabrication of (6,5)Carbon Nanotube/Protein Transistor Endowed with Specific Recognition

A general single-step approach is introduced for the green fabrication of hybrid biosensors from water dispersion. The resulting device integrates semiconducting properties a carbon nanotube (CNT) and functionality protein. In initial aqueous phase, protein (viz., lysozyme [LZ]) disperses (6,5)CNT. Drop-casting dispersion on test pattern (a silicon wafer with interdigitated Au source drain electrodes) yields fully operating, robust, electrolyte-gated transistor (EGT) in one step. EGT response to biorecognition then assessed using LZ inhibitor N-acetyl glucosamine trisaccharide. Analysis output signal allows extract protein-substrate binding constant line values reported free (without CNT) system. methodology easy optimize, redirectable toward different targets sets grounds new class CNT-protein that overcome many limitations technology CNT biosensors.
